DIY: flower crown with baby’s breath

Woah, my friend Elize got married! So sweet and also a bit weird she has a ‘husband’ now. For her wedding we did this DIY for her hair accessory.

Baby’s breath

Elize is also a very romantic type of person. She wanted something delicate with real flowers for her hair and came up with the idea to work with gypsophila (baby’s breath). We needed to test that! Below I show you how we made our flower crowns.

Necessities

Gypsophila – Pair of scissors – Iron wire – Nippers (if you work with quite thick iron wire)

We made a braid of three strings of iron wire. By bending the end and turn this around the braid we created an eyelet to attach the flower crown.

Cut some flowers (as big and as much as you like) and attach them in the braid. It stays in place pretty well, but if you feel you need some extra firmness you can use a hot glue gun.

Delicate headband or full flower crown

You can go for a delicate headband using only a few flowers or choose to make an impressive flower crown. If you don’t fill the bottom half you can flip your hair over this part of the headband. Because the iron wire is invisble this way, the flowers seem to be placed in your hair. You could also fill it up with flowers completely, place it on top of your head and wear it as a crown. Simply experiment and see what works best for you.

Have you ever made a baby’s breath flower crown?
