While I was working on this pearl beaded smartphone purse I came to the conclusion that buying one would have been way cheaper. And less time consuming, obviously. 😉 However, that didn’t make this little project less fun or satisfying.
What you need
To make this mini bag I used: – A pair of scissors – Strong nylon thread – Pearl beads (a lot!) – Your smartphone for size-reference
It took me some time to find the most efficient was of stringing the beads in the diamond-shaped way. Once I discovered it I felt like a true mathematician. 😉 As I’m not a pro, it’s pretty hard to put the process to words, but you can see it in the video on my Instagram.
I was in luck: the beads matched the width of my phone perfectly! The only problem was the beads running out pretty quickly when I started with the shoulder belt. As the stores are currently closed, I decided to just accept that it would turn out a little shorter.
Fortunately I can still wear it cross-body! Even though I used a thick thread and ensured every bead is secured safely, the bag does feel a little fragile. I don’t think it’s suitable for festivals or clubs. As the only parties we can attend are at home – due to the coronavirus – I think I’m safe. 😉
