Christmas is almost here! You know all those fun, crazy ornaments? I saw one in the shape of a box of popcorn that I loved. It was made of beads, which made me decide I could try to make something similar myself.
What you need
To make this ornament I used: – Two even pieces of black fabric (I used an old pair of jeans) – A needle and thread – Stuffing (I plucked some from a pillow) – Bugle beads in gold – Bugle beads in red – Rocailles in gold – Pearl beads
Step 1: Embroidering the beads
First, I planned out the design by laying the beads on the fabric. Then, I started embroidering from the middle. I ended with the pearl beads.
Step 2: Sewing the extra layer of fabric
Once the embroidery is finished, it’s time to sew another piece of fabric on top of it. To do this, I turned the fabric and embroidery inside out. When sewing, I kept the top part open for the next step.
Step 3: Turning in inside out
Then, I gently turned the ornament inside out, so the embroidery is on the right side again. After filling it up with some stuffing it’s time to close up the top part.
Step 4: Closing it up
As the top is a little more chaotic the stitches don’t really show, so no need to be too perfectionistic with closing the ornament up. Then, you can add a thread to hang it in the tree.
Wat een geweldige diy!! Echt een schattig resultaat, deze sla ik zeker op! <3
Liefs!
